The Localism Act 2011 requires the Council to
appoint at least one Independent Person to support its Standards
Committee. Currently, the Council has a ‘pool’ of three
Independent Persons on which to draw support with regard to Code of
Conduct allegations against Members and other standards matters.
Those appointments expire on 14 July 2024. This report seeks
Committee Members’ views on the recruitment process for
appointing a new panel of Independent Persons.
